HEART GALLERY OF PINELLAS & PASCO HOSTS FIESTA ON THE FIELD

This Year’s Gala Marks 300 Adoptions and 10-Year Anniversary

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – (April 26, 2016) – The Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco today announced plans for its 10-year celebration – Fiesta on the Field – at the Tropicana Field on Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. The event will include a seated dinner, entertainment, silent auction, and will celebrate the 300th adoption of local children living in foster care.

Individual tickets can be purchased for $125 and young professional tickets, for individuals 35 years-old and younger, can be purchased for $75. For more information, and to purchase tickets online, go to http://www.heartgallerykids.org/heart-gallery-fiesta-on-the-field-2016/.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Centerplate will be hosting and catering the event. Notable attendees include St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, St. Petersburg City Council Member Amy Foster, Gala Chairperson Abby Favali, Heart Gallery Board Chairperson Dr. Jane Nunnelly, and the founding members of the Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco.

“It’s an incredible year for us at the Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco, with 300 adoptions and our 10-year anniversary,” said Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco’s Executive Director, Jennifer Nance. “We could not be more happy to celebrate the day with all of those who have supported the Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco on this journey, but more importantly, to celebrate those children who have found their forever-families.”

The Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco’s mission is to increase the number of successful adoptions of local children living in foster care. The gallery features foster children awaiting adoption in Pinellas and Pasco counties, while serving as the primary vehicle to recruit prospective adoptive families.

“I am honored to be speaking during this momentous occasion and sharing my family’s story,” said City Council Chair, Amy Foster. “The need for forever-families in our community is great, especially for older children. I hope our story inspires others to consider opening their heart and home.”

Foster adopted her teenage daughter last July after seeing her Heart Gallery profile. Foster’s daughter, Elena, is in college and serves as an advocate for children who are fighting the same battles she did as a child in foster care.

Each year, the gala showcases an adoption success story, and this year’s featured family are the Gallaghers, who grew by two when they adopted sisters Alexis and Jessica last October. Dawn and Scott Gallagher knew they wanted to adopt a teenager after Scott aged out of the foster care system himself. While adopting siblings wasn’t part of the original plan, it was a welcome surprise. The Gallaghers will also be speaking at the gala to share their story.
